So, we were recently sent some Hawaiian Kettle Style potato chips to review. We received their Original, Sweet Maui Onion, and Luau BBQ flavors to try.
Now, before I go any further, let me point out a couple of things. First, I have never been a really huge fan of chips, or potato chips in particular. I will usually pick almost anything before chips, not that I don't eat them occasionally, they're just not my first choice. Second, a few days before I received these to review I changed my diet, which was no longer including chips, or even potatoes.
BUT....I cheated and had one of each flavor.
The consensus? There were LOLO 'ONO! (Which happens to mean crazy delicious, in case you were wondering.) They were cruchy and crispy. Not too oily (which I can't stand) and very flavorful. My favorite was actually the Sweet Maui Onion, much to my surprise, since I don't usually like anything to do with onions, but it was go-ood.
Now, I probably wouldn't eat them much because they're still chips, which are not my fave. But if you like chips you should definitely try them.
And you may be wondering......if I only ate one of each, what happened to the rest of them? Well, after my husband informed me that they don't even have potatoes in Hawaii (or at least they're not indigenous or something like that), he and my boys ate them all up in about 5 minutes flat.
So yeah, they were a hit. And you can find them at your local Wal-mart, Smiths or Harmons.
Happy Snackin'!

I'm like you - I don't usually do chips. But my husband does. Like my grandpa Hurst, he doesn't eat them because he is hungry, he eats them to keep from getting hungry. But I think I would like to try the Sweet Maui Onion. Close my eyes and pretend I am in Hawaii...
ReplyDeleteMaui Onion...use to be my fav.
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived there we made our own chips with bread fruit from the gigantic tree we had in the yard. We also would roast macadamia nuts, make mango sherbert, banana breads, make a fruit salad with pinapple and papaya. The two together are awesome! I don't eat chips but, Papa does. What I wouldn't give to make up some bread fruit chips right now.
I would like the try the BBQ rings!
ReplyDeleteI want onion ones right now!! I'd follow you any day.
