However, regardless of how nerdy I am, I really enjoyed reading this book. It was predictable at times, and sometimes a little disturbing, but it had a good message, without being too preachy.
Here's a bit more about it:
Battling his own personal demons, Police Chief Jonah Westfall knows the dark side of life and has committed himself to eradicating it. When a pair of raccoons are found mutilated in Redford, Colorado, Jonah investigates the gruesome act, knowing the strange event could escalate and destroy the tranquility of his small mountain town. With a rising drug threat and never-ending conflict with Tia Manning, a formidable childhood friend with whom he has more than a passing history, Jonah fights for answers—and his fragile sobriety.
But he can’t penetrate every wound or secret—especially one fueled by a love and guilt teetering on madness.
From best-selling author Kristen Heitzmann comes a spellbinding tale of severed connections and the consequences of life lived alone.

ReplyDeleteHa ha! That's funny, because when I read the title of the post I thought it said "The invisible book review". I had to go back and read it again after I started reading the actual post! What can I say...I'm a nerd too! : )
ReplyDeleteOh, and the most recent really good book I read was, "The Last Song" by Nicholas Sparks
Sounds like a great book. I just finished "The Rice Mother" and "The Rest of Her Life". Such totally different books and I loved them both...

ReplyDeleteSo here is the deal, you say to tell a favorite book we read recently, instead of a favorite I am going to tell you a horrible one. Flowers in the Attic by VC Andrews, I thought I would die of boredom or depression or something, it dragged so bad! Supposedly its this wonderful insightful book, all it made me realize was that when I was reading it I was more depressed. Yeah, pretty much skimmed through about 100 pages, couldn't take it anymore. Not to mention it was a highly disturbing book about incest and child abuse. Do not recommend, not even for the subject matter alone but it was BORING. Yeah, that was long, just had to vent ha ha.
ReplyDeleteRecently I read Laddie. An oldie but a goodie. It was kind of like a cross between Little Britches and To Kill a Mockingbird. All classics.
ReplyDeleteI love to read, but haven't done much lately. I'm always up for a good book.
ReplyDeleteEmpire by Orson Scott Card has turned into one of my favorites. I couldn't put it down!
