Not the week I expected

So Monday night I went to bed as usual. I had a hard time sleeping, nervous about my first official evaluation as a teacher in the morning......

least of my worries, let me tell you.

About 4 in the morning I woke up with a bad stomach pain. I figured I just had the stomach flu, especially since I couldn't stop throwing up. After a few hours of this, and not being able to sleep, I decided I'd better take the day off, because throwing up during my evaluation just would not be cool.

As the morning wore on, the pain in my stomach moved and started to get worse. It's hard to explain, almost like a cramp but worse, and different. The pain was mainly on the right bottom side of my abdomen. Now, I get weird pains a lot, so I wanted to just brush this one off. But I was pretty sure it wasn't the usual cramps, ovulating, gas, etc. And it was getting worse.

So I got online and researched my symptoms. And they sounded just like appendicitis. Yippee. Part of me wanted badly to just curl up in bed and try to ride it through until it passed. I was very tempted, people. So I said a little prayer asking if it was something I should worry about, and after a little while I definitely felt impressed that I should go to the doctor.

And the rest is history. It all happened so fast it was insane, and very surreal. I go to the doctor, he sends me to the ER, they run tests, I get a CAT scan, and then I'm wheeled in to surgery. Next thing I know I'm waking up, and it's all over. That little appendix is history. Okay, maybe not so little. Pretty swollen and ugly. Ewwww.

I am very blessed. We caught it before it burst, so that is very good. Everything went well, I think I am healing well. I am lucky. It could have been much worse.

But, it still isn't exactly how I thought this week would go. And I didn't anticipate how depressed I would feel. But that is a different story......

maybe for another day. Then again, maybe not.

And since I am so depressing, look for a guest post to come soon. I think you'll like it.

Peace out, friends. If anyone even reads this anymore.

  2. I'm sorry it was so crazy. I always wonder if I'd know whether it is appendix or not. My nephew had his burst last October and spent 6 days in the hospital so good thinking to get it taken care of. Let me know if you need anything, specially since I played hookie today. But I don't have a car so I can't drive to get you anything.

  10. I'm so sorry sweet girl. I know what it feels like, I swore I had it, not too long ago but it was a nasty imitating something or other. ALL the symptoms fit.

So sorry you had to go through surgery, but like you said, glad they caught it before it got worse!
