So in a nutshell, when it comes to cooking, I like fast, easy and yummy. I tend to be boring in my cooking and do the same things month after month. None of us are starving but you know...it may be good to not be such a kitchen nerd. Well, last fall I found this very very cool website called My Family Meal Planner. I ordered their Family Meal Planner #2 along with a magnetic grocery list, tried a few recipes and loved them, and then ended up giving it to my brother and his wife. Things were crazy with them and I knew they needed it more. I fully intended to buy one for myself again but, well, life happened. Here is a little more about these amazing meal planners:
All meals are SIMPLE and EASY and include a crock pot meal EVERY week! I planned all the meals for you, I give you all the recipes you need and I give you your weekly grocery list! I even have Preprinted Magnetic Grocery List Notepads! All you have to do is tear off this weeks list, cross out what you already have, add any other items you may need and head to the store.
So did you notice the two most important things for me??? SIMPLE and EASY!! Oh yeah, baby! And four meals a week for the ENTIRE year!! But no worries, they're yummy too. I think when I buy one again I want the Family Meal Planner Light. She has some sample recipes from that book that I've tried and LOVED!! You have to try some of her sample recipes. She's got a few options to choose from; meals for two, meals for kids, light and two of her regular books and she always includes bonus recipes for dessert and appetizers! So by now I'm SURE you want one!
You can go to her site and buy one: My Family Meal Planner It's not like it will break the bank at only $20. ( SO worth it!) And for only $4 you can add on a magnetic grocery list!
Or.......you can WIN one! She has graciously offered to send one Meal Planner and Magnetic grocery list to one of my readers!! Sweet, huh? Here are your rules:

ReplyDeleteI'd love to give you a tip - but alas, I too am a necessity cook! I don't know why I hate it so much. And I don't know why some people like it so much! There are some recipes I'm pretty good at, but John is also the one who experiments and enjoys it! I will say that I'm much better at baking than he is. He's good at frying!
ReplyDeleteTo learn to love to cook....cook something for FUN, not because you HAVE TO every once in a while. I enjoy cooking things that taste great and look great, and I love the praise and the end result, but it is so hard to remember that when kids are whining and pulling on your pant legs yelling "I'm hungry!"
ReplyDeleteGot your button!
ReplyDeleteAnd I follow you!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try the first Family Meal calendar!

ReplyDeleteI will be honest...I don't love to cook. I do love to bake. I can do that all day, but I don't really much like to cook because it never comes out right! I enjoy cooking by watching my husband do it! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI would choose Planner #2! I love the polka dots and the color!
ReplyDeleteHmmm...a tip for learning to love cooking. Well, keep it simple, I think. My kids both love to cook, but only if it's easy and something they like. iclipalso(at)yahoo(dot)com
ReplyDeleteWow, that seriously looks like something I would love. I don't love cooking. In fact I totally agree with what you said. As time goes on I dislike it more and more. It's just another chore. A couple weeks ago I was feeling it especially and so I put some frozen tater tots in the oven and....that was it. Dinner. Sorry hubby.
ReplyDeleteI hate figuring out what to make, so this would be awesome for me. I wouldn't have to think! How great.
(Sorry about my exceedingly long comment.
Oh, I added your blog to my list of visited blogs. Does that count for an extra entry?
ReplyDeleteIs this working yet?
ReplyDeleteI'd get My Family Meal Planner Light. thanks for the giveaway!

ReplyDeleteA tip so you can learn to love cooking? Clean up as you go so the kitchen isn't a complete pigsty when you sit down to eat. (I wish I followed my own suggestion!)
ReplyDeleteMy idea for making cooking more fun: Add chocolate to everything you make! :) Actually I can see where enjoying cooking would be a problem with your picky eaters! I know most of my cooking just gets complained about and my kids like more foods than yours do! :) Not much fun to cook when you do all that work and just get whining in return . . . oh well, keep at it. I'm kind of digging the chocolate idea actually . . .

ReplyDeleteI'd like the plain ol Family Meal Planner. Or the second one. Not the light one--I need calories :)
ReplyDeleteI would love the family meal planner because it takes a 12 month schedule and plans 1/2 the meals so easy for a busy mom

the earlier a child or young adult gets in the kitchen the more fun they will have while learning to cook (I am sorry did not see this line til scanned back up)

The best way to help enjoy cooking is to make one pot meals or casseroles. That way you just throw a bunch of ingredients together and it magically makes a good tasting dish.
ReplyDeleteI would love the Kids Meal Planner. Since 2 of my grandchildren moved in I need a little refresher on things they like.

ReplyDeleteI only like to cook when I don't have to, but my best advice is to have a meal planned and the groceries for those. It is so much easier to cook when the fridge and pantry are stocked. Then you have choices and it isn't such a burden. I also think having meats or cheeses cooked and frozen or grated is very helpful.
ReplyDeleteHere's a tip to make it easier. The thing I hate most about cooking is all the prep. Chopping and whatnot. So I try to buy ingredients that are pre-chopped. I buy onions frozen (I HATE cutting up onions), I buy the garlic chopped in a jar. You can get fresh veggies chopped as well. It makes the cooking more bearable for me. Truthfully I like the actual act of cooking, but the prep makes me not even want to start. And don't get me started on the shopping!
