Oh... to have such candor

Are you ever in the mood to write, but not in the mood to think? That's me right now. I think I'd better go to bed soon.

Today was our preschool Valentine's Day party. I only teach Mon, Tues and Wed if you're wondering why we had our party on a Wednesday. Or maybe you weren't. I really do love teaching. I always have and I hope always will. I think mainly because I learn as much or more than those that I'm teaching.

As we were standing at the door waiting for parents I was (gently) flipping the little pigtail of one of the girls. (Her mom is a good friend of mine). She has the cutest blonde hair. I know you probably have to know her and me and our friendship better to really understand but I was just laughing. Here is the conversation that took place:

"Mrs. Sharla, stop." (in a cute little valley girl voice)

"Why? You have such pretty hair and I don't have a little girl whose hair I can play with."

"You're a girl, you can play with your own hair."

"I know, but it's just not the same."

"Well maybe you'll have a girl. Your belly is getting bigger."

"........................................."

Out of the mouth of babes. I need to go on a diet. :) Really, though. I was just laughing. I wish you all could know my kids and these adorable kids I teach. There is so much to learn from them!

And next time I need to know if my butt looks big in those pants.....I know who to ask.

Hope you all had a great day and are LOVIN' life!

  1. That is so cute, even if it was a bit insulting. Kids are so cute aren't they?

  3. Cute what she said.. but sometimes we don't want to know the truth. So in that case you don't look preg, and you won't need to ask if your but is big
just a good laugh in the case of a kid!

  4. BWAHAHAHAHA I "LOVE" it. ;-)

Seriously though, that is hilarious. It reminds me of the conversation I had recently with Chatty about how people would be affected if someone succeeded in convincing our new President that we would *all* be safe without guns. Her response? "Well of course HE'D be safe; he has SECURITY!" Emphasis hers. LOL

  6. Kids are so blunt that way. They can say the sweetest things or the meanest but either way at least you know it is true.

  7. Kids really say whatever they are thinking! I LOVE it, they are always good for a laugh.

  8. Oh those little ones! Aren't they just so bloody cute! You've got to love what they say...because they are so innocent! LOL

One of my friends little girl has the most perfect curls. I love to "boing" them. You know, like in Ramona?

  9. She is so funny! You just never know what kids are going to say. That's why I secretly love teaching nursery and sunbeams--it's always good for a laugh and a new perspective on life and church! Like the kid who told me that the way Jesus helps us get back to heaven is "with his magic"

  12. Ahhh, yes. I keep a book just for writing all the things like that my kids say. I love to go back and read them all.

  13. LOL, kids! When I was a mere 16 I had this black and white dress that just kind of hung on me. My 5 year old cousin asked me if I was pregnant "cuz you look fat". Meanwhile back then I was very thin. *sigh* I wish I could look like that now!

  14. Mason is wanting to be a Math and Science teacher for either a Community College or University. He is one of those Math wizzes.
I always wanted to get into teaching new Real Estate agents. Once they get their liscenses. They need much more training. And it seems that all of them are not getting taught correctly or the "legal" way. But, oh, well.
Maybe you could teach us some things we can do with the kids? I was always looking for projects to do with mine when they were not in school. It would be nice to have a resource!

  16. Bless your heart - out of the mouths of babes...! I bet you would just "LOVE" that. I remember 'way back when I was in 7th or 8th grade the style in women's professional type fashion was a skirt with a long top over it. One day another of the "brave" students asked the English teacher if she was expecting .... oops! A day or two after that, we saw her drinking a diet "shake" for lunch.

  17. I feel for ya. Yesterday, my kids were in the bedroom folding their laundry while I was working on the computer. About ten minutes into the activity, they ran up to me holding my underwear saying "whose big underwear is this?" while laughing *hysterically*, like they'd never seen such BIG underpants. Well, needless, I was aching for a salad for dinner...

  18. I commented the other day, but I wanted to mention that I love the way you handled this! You really did inspire with your casual "oh, well" and move on kind of attitude! Thanks!
